Assessment

AS Level: two written examinations.

Course Description

AS Level, enables students to develop a range of skills, which can be applied far beyond the study of Citizenship. The course addresses the relationship between the individual, the law and the State and the nature of identities. It encourages students to ask searching questions such as ‘what is a citizen’ and ‘what are my rights and responsibilities?’ Students are also challenged to consider how they can make a difference to society and will be encouraged to become an ‘active citizen’.

Benefits
  • Students will develop a range of skills, enabling them to communicate and articulate different views, ideas and perspectives.

  • Students will learn how to work with others, using problem solving and critical approaches to the issues, problems and events that affect modern Britain.

  • This course will be of interest to those seeking a career in the public services.

  • This subject can also be combined with the AQA Bacc course.

The AS Level modules comprise:

- Identity
- Rights and Responsibilities
- How can I make a difference?
