GCSE mean score of 5.5, including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.


Assessment

AS Level: two written examinations (each paper 1 ½ hours).
A2 Level: two written examinations, each with a synoptic element – each paper 2 hours.

Course Description

AS Level, develops students knowledge and understanding of financial accounting and introduces them to some ways in which financial accounting can provide valuable information for measuring and monitoring business performance and for planning future business operations.

 

Students learn to develop their ability to produce adjustments, report on the performance of final accounts and balance sheets for sole traders as well as limited companies. Also their ability to demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of budgeting and preparing cash budgets.

 

A2 Level, develops knowledge and understanding of the purposes of accounting, its concepts and techniques and their development as well as an appreciation of the limitations of accounting.

 

It offers appreciation of the effects of economics, legal and technological changes on accounting, and of the social implications of accounting decisions.

A2 Level also covers the skills of communication, numeracy, presentation, analysis, interpretation, applications and evaluation of accounting information.

The AS Level modules comprise:

- Introduction to Financial Accounting
- Financial and Management Accounting.
(The AS may be awarded as a discrete
qualification or count as 50% of the A2).

The A2 Level modules comprise:

-Further Aspects of Financial Accounting
-Further Aspects of Management
Accounting.
