Maths

Children have to use and respond to maths in many different ways during primary school. Each year they develop their understanding of the core elements of problem solving, reasoning and numeracy through a range of objectives that are set out within seven learning strands (outlined in the Primary Numeracy Framework).

These strands relate to the fundamental areas of:

• number

• shape and space

• fractions and decimals

• measurement

• data-handling

• problem solving
